![]() It works with either AMD or Nvidia GPUs, is consistently updated and tested, and it’s fast. If you’re mining Ethereum we’d give the nod to Claymore’s Dual Miner. From that point your choices have narrowed quite a bit. Well, there’s a couple of things that narrow the field dramatically: what you’re mining and what hardware you are mining with. We haven’t seen a benchmark in awhile, but our recollection was that Claymore had a slight advantage on Genoil. We used Genoil for a short period of time before moving on to Claymore’s Dual Miner. We did briefly use this miner as it sounded like the safest bet when we initially started mining. ![]() As you’ve probably guessed, it mines Ethereum or the cryptocurrencies using the Ethash algorithm. Genoil took the now defunct cpp-ethereum project’s miner and improved upon it. Regardless, there are other miners out there that we trust but simply don’t use. Hence, the overwhelming focus on Nvidia miners above. ![]() Ever since the Nvidia camp took the lead (barring complex BIOS editing) in performance and efficiency, we’ve stuck with them. We don’t do very much standalone AMD mining. GPU mining software we don’t use (but would) But, when we do see a coin on a run and want to give it a shot, chances are this is the miner that we’ll end up firing up. The miner is updated and adding algorithms all the time. Of all the coins we’ve mined with it, MONA is at the top of the list. We use tprovot’s fork of ccminer for it’s flexibility. Even with it’s 2% fee, we’ve kept EWBF in our Applications folders. Due to the positives easily outweighing the negatives we continue to use EWBF’s CUDA Zcash Miner. These situations usually involve a card that was running hot which the software reacted to correctly, and it isn’t a rampant issue. Rarely the miner will lose all the cards and sit in a loop where it isn’t mining, just reporting it’s frustrations. We have come across issues where one or more GPU is taken offline (due to temperature, for example) and is subsequently attempted to be brought back online. We turn to EWBF’s CUDA Zcash Miner for Zcash (big surprise). Miners tend to be willing to pay Claymore’s fees as the miner is fast, actively updated and well tested before release. We can’t really speak of any large scale issues we’ve come across with this miner. We run Claymore on our 6 GPU and 8 GPU mining rigs. When dual mining, one of the two miners is always an Ethash while the second can be one of many. While Ethereum is used in it’s name, any Ethash algorithm cryptocurrency can be mined with it.
